Since 2005, our office has been dedicated to providing women with the best maternity, gynecological and wellness care possible.
Knowing that women often can’t take enough time away from their busy lives to take care of themselves, we investigated ways to bring formerly hospital-only therapeutic procedures into the office.
Our practice was among the very first in the nation to offer in-office treatments such as thermal endometrial ablations and Essure sterilizations, responding to a need to reduce patient costs both in terms of time and money; while maintaining the same degree of safety as the same procedures done in the hospital.
The best healthcare is rarely the most convenient or simple. Rather than always responding to issues with a quick prescription or costly diagnostic studies, we take time to get to know the whole person and tailor management to better suit their needs.
We all know it’s frustrating when you can’t get in contact with a doctor’s office for questions, scheduling or results.
That’s why our fantastic staff works hard to answer every phone call personally and respond quickly to your needs. We want your experience to be the same as we would want for ourselves and our families. At the end of the day, that’s what we are: a family.
Dr. Henry Dorn MD
After college, Dr. Dorn pursued a joint MD/PhD degree program and was accepted to the prestigious Medical Scientist Training Program (MD/PhD). He chose to continue his education at the Medical University of South Carolina. There he completed his doctoral coursework and two years of additional molecular biology research, but realized he wanted more direct interaction with patients. So he chose to pursue clinical medicine and specialize in Obstetrics and Gynecology because of “its unique combination of both primary care and surgery.”
Dr. Dorn chose a residency program at the Albany Medical Center in New York where the training emphasized addressing the needs of the whole patient and methods of optimizing vaginal birth.
In 2004, he took a sabbatical in New Zealand where he cared for high risk OB & GYN patients, and collaborated with about 30 midwives who were responsible for well-woman OB care in the region. Dr. Dorn says that working in a system where there is excellent integration between midwives, family practice doctors and OBGYNs dramatically affected how he practices today, as well as his thoughts about how the US system of care can improve.
He supports homebirth midwives in the region, and in 2006 co-founded the NC Physicians for Midwives, an organization to help patients and midwives find backup physician care. He’s also a member of ICAN in NC, the International Cesarean Awareness Network, which is chartered to reduce the excessively high US cesarean section rate.
Outside of work, he spends his free time with his three wonderful children and wife Liz, which keeps him very busy indeed!
Dr. Scott Stahle, MD
Dr. Stahle was born in Montana, but grew up in the Midwest and attended Miami University in Oxford, OH as an undergraduate and Wright State University in Dayton, OH for medical school. He completed his residency in OB/Gyn at the University of Vermont in 1997 and moved to North Carolina to practice.
He became Board Certified in OB/Gyn in 1999. He has since practiced in Lexington, Salisbury and most recently in Williamston, NC. He is happy to be back practicing in the Piedmont.
His main interests in women’s health revolve around minimally invasive surgery, in office procedures and helping many great couples expand their family. He has extensive experience working with midwives throughout his career and helping patients through optimizing their birthing experience.
He is happily married for over 20 years, with two teenage daughters. Most of his spare time is occupied going to soccer games and ballet recitals. He enjoys cooking, gardening and reading in the remainder of his spare time.
Dr. Dorn is the only doctor I have found in the NC Triad that is open minded about natural birth options. Talking to him is like talking to a friend. I highly recommend going to see him if you are in need of well-woman care or are expecting.
Dr Dorn is one of the most caring & attentive doctors that I’ve ever seen. He delivered my son & still go to him. He’s very easy to talk to & he’s very compassionate & non-judgemental. I can’t imagine going to another gynecologist. He’s also very up-to-date on all the newest tecnology & issues. I’ve even referred my friends & family to him & they love him as much as I do.
I recommend Dr. Dorn to everyone I really feel he understands your feelings and for those who have needle phobia as I do going to Dr. DOrn is the best possible move to make. Not to mention he is very Thorough when explaining diagnoses and answers ALL questions not making you feel rushed.
